After the success of our forth women’s only triathlon in 2016, MyTriEvents will be holding the next event on the 30th July 2017.
We aim to ensure this event is inclusive and enjoyable as possible everyone is welcome from novice to experienced seasoned athletes.
A shared goal with film producer Nigel Christian. “We want to inspire women and show that whatever their background, age, ability, shape or size, triathlon is a sport for all women.” Hope you can join us….
Swim – 500m
The open water swim takes place in the crystal clear waters of Capernwray Dive Centre, which is one of the cleanest and best regarded open water swimming venues in the North West. The swim course comprises one clockwise loop of the quarry and will be marshaled by our water safety team in kayaks and a motor boat. They’ll be on hand to guide you around the course and ensure your swim is safe and enjoyable. The water is also warmer than many other open water venues and is very sheltered from the wind, making Capernwray the perfect venue for open water triathlon, particularly if it’s your first time!
Wetsuits are advised but not compulsory. Athletes are able to hire suits if needed.
Bike – 18km
The one lap 20km bike course takes in the scenic and quiet lanes of the countryside around Capernwray Dive Centre and passes through the pretty local villages such as Over Kellet, Arkholme and Capernwray. All of the course is on good quality minor roads and offers an engaging mix of gentle climbs, smooth descents and some fast flat sections. The course is fully way marked and will be marshalled at key junctions to ensure you have a safe ride and don’t get lost!
Run – 5km
The 5k run course is fast and flat, with the majority of the route being away from roads along the scenic canal path. Like the bike course, it will be clearly way marked and marshalled. If the weather is poor either on the day, or in the run up to the event, we advise you bring a pair of trainers that can cope with potentially slippery conditions, such as a light trail shoe. However, this is not essential.
Transition will be located at the start finish area of Capernwray Dive Centre, meaning you can easily organise your kit all in one place. Transition will be manned at all times during the event to ensure the security of your equipment and bikes.
Cyclista have kindly provided voucher prizes for first, second, third and first vet.
