Venus Sprint Tri 24th July 2016

After the success of our third women’s only triathlon in 2015, MyTriEvents will be holding the next event on the 24th July 2016. To ensure this event is inclusive and enjoyable as possible, participants will have a choice of entering either one of the following events:

Venus Novice Tri – 8am Start

Ideal for those new to open water triathlon or those who may be less experienced or confident.

Venus Competition Tri – 8:15am Start

For more competitive athlete wanting to push themselves in a more competitive field.

Both of these events will take in exactly the same course, but start at different times. For more information on the course, please see below:

Swim – 500m

The open water swim takes place in the crystal clear waters of Capernwray Dive Centre, which is one of the cleanest and best regarded open water swimming venues in the North West. The swim course comprises one clockwise loop of the quarry and will be marshaled by our water safety team in kayaks and a motor boat. They’ll be on hand to guide you around the course and ensure your swim is safe and enjoyable. The water is also warmer than many other open water venues and is very sheltered from the wind, making Capernwray the perfect venue for open water triathlon, particularly if it’s your first time!

Wetsuits are advised but not compulsory, Athletes are able to hire suits if needed.

Bike – 18km

The one lap 20km bike course takes in the scenic and quiet lanes of the countryside around Capernwray Dive Centre and passes through the pretty local villages such as Over Kellet, Arkholme and Capernwray. All of the course is on good quality minor roads and offers an engaging mix of gentle climbs, smooth descents and some fast flat sections. The course is fully way marked and will be marshalled at key junctions to ensure you have a safe ride and don’t get lost!

Run – 5km

The 5k run course is fast and flat, with the majority of the route being away from roads along the scenic canal path. Like the bike course, it will be clearly way marked and marshalled. If the weather is poor either on the day, or in the run up to the event, we advise you bring a pair of trainers that can cope with potentially slippery conditions, such as a light trail shoe. However, this is not essential.

Transition

Transition will be located at the start finish area of Capernwray Dive Centre, meaning you can easily organise your kit all in one place. Transition will be manned at all times during the event to ensure the security of your equipment and bikes.

Race Categories and mementos

Every finisher will receive a custom medal upon completion. Cyclista have provided prizes for both events detailed below.
